Ok, folks, we’re going there. Whether you’re having a parade of people over for the holidays, hosting a party, or even just having a few guest over, there’s one room you’ll want to be fully functional and well-stocked to prevent embarrassing moments, the bathroom! We’ve all had to endure an uncomfortable bathroom experience at one point in our lives, and it’s no picnic. Here are 11 things you can do to ensure that the bathroom experience in your home is as pleasant as possible for guests:
Fix ANY Toilet Issues Beforehand
If the primary toilet guests will be using has been fussy, aim to fix it well before your event or gathering. It’s not a good idea to temporarily fix an ongoing issue and hope it doesn’t rear its ugly head on one of your guests. That’s not really fair now, is it? If the issue is persistent, call a plumber to help you fix that problem once and for all!
Stock Plenty of Toilet Paper
Ever had to call out for extra Toilet Paper, or worse forego using it because there wasn’t any left? Not a fun situation, is it? Stock plenty of toilet paper to accommodate the number of guests who will be in your home. Have extra available in a visible spot if possible, or at the very least in a cupboard that guests might look in to find some. It’s also good to just check on the bathroom periodically throughout your guests stay to make sure it’s well stocked.

Keep a Plunger Handy
They’re not pretty, but they’re there for an emergency. It’s best to keep these handy during guest visits, just in case. Having a plunger handy allows your guests to quietly deal with a minor annoying clog, rather than having to sheepishly alert you to the problem. Plungers don’t have to be unsightly, this decorative plunger comes in several finishes.
Toilet Brush
Streaking. It happens. Having a toilet brush handy allows guests to scrub any traces of ‘stuff’ away. Toilet brushes come in a variety of decorative containers for concealment. Just make sure if you have one, as well as the discrete plunger mentioned above, that you label them for guests so they know the difference.
Offer Some White Noise
If your guest bathroom is in close proximity to where the party is at, it’s a nice idea to provide some white noise. Keeping a Bluetooth speaker with some light music playing close to or within the area can help. Bathroom rugs can also help to soak up noise.
Disposable Hand Towels
Disposable hand towels are ideal for guests to use after they wash their hands. This keeps things clean and sanitary as terry cloth hand towels tend to get really damp with continued hand washes, which can be a little gross if we’re being honest. Keep either a roll of paper towels handy, or these disposable hand towels from Kleenex.
Post a Sign
Whether your plumbing is delicate or not, we like this precautionary measure. Send a little reminder to your guests with a sign stating to “please put only TP in the toilet, and to throw anything else away in the trash including disposable hand towels, facial tissue, feminine products, etc.”
Keep Plenty of Hand Soap, Hand Lotion, and Facial Tissue Handy
Hand soap is a given, but offering some hand lotion is an added bonus for your guests. Keep scents in the neutral zone using vanilla, citrus, lavender or even unscented products. Facial tissue and dental floss are also nice touches to keep handy for guests.
Remove anything you want to keep hidden
Lastly, we highly recommend doing a visual sweep and place anything you want to keep hidden out of sight. Clean out the trash can and add a liner. Declutter the counter top. Make sure any all medications are tucked away out of plain sight.
